At Travel & GIVE, we believe communication is a fundamental human right—the bridge that connects us to one another, empowers us to express our needs, dreams, and emotions, and unlocks countless opportunities for growth.
Through the TAG Cares Telehealth Services program, our Nairobi-based therapy aide, Catherine Ngeru, works one-on-one with students at the Almasi School under the supervision of TAG’s US-based licensed speech pathologist, Deon Brown, to provide speech therapy to children presenting with speech and language delays.
This program gives students the opportunity to improve their communication skills, confidence, and independence. On this page, you’ll meet the incredible students currently enrolled in the program and learn about their unique stories. You can choose which student’s speech therapy sessions you would like to sponsor for just $33 per session or $132 per month. Sponsoring a student’s therapy is more than providing a service—it’s giving the gift of connection, opportunity, and hope.
Weldon
A student always up for a fun challenge solving a puzzle, Weldon Aboki also enjoys being active and is a great listener, making them an asset in any group or classroom setting. With the support of a speech therapist Weldon can grow his confidence and be better understood by his peers, extend his attention span, learn how to adapt to fluxuating situations, and strengthen his literacy skills. A sponsorship can help him strengthen his skills and support him in excelling in his academics.

Taji
There is an incredible opportunity to support a bright talented young student Taji Karani who is 7 years old. Despite facing some challenges with building a word bank, retaining information, and fine motor skills, Taji demonstrates remarkable resilience and a love for learning. Taji is a very personable student who enjoys greeting others and a deep enthusiasm for music, numbers, and puzzles. While they get along well with others, they also value their alone time. Kian is a lively and affectionate 7-year-old math whiz.. He understands directions well and can point to familiar objects like apples and cars. His teacher has noticed his strengths in number concepts and his ability to respond correctly to questions.
However, Kian faces some challenges with expressing his needs, getting stuck on words, and needing repeated directions. He sometimes has tantrums, especially when doors are locked, and can shut down when interrupted. Despite these hurdles, Kian is very active and loves to give hugs, showing his affectionate side.

Bridgit
Bridgit is a jovial girl, as soon as you say her name she flashes her beautiful smile at you. She enjoys her sweet potatoes and tea. She also enjoys rice and this young lady does not play about her food.
She enjoys when you give her your full attention and will reward you by moving her head and eyes to indicate she knows what you are talking about.
She loves watching other children play around we at Almasi look forward to the day we will see her able to move and play around without much assistance.

Daniel
This calm and shy boy will melt your heart into a puddle of smiles and tenderness. His motto in life may easily be ‘live and let live’ He does not bother you unless you bother him.
He will stand and watch others play but once you hold his hand to join the games then Daniel will surprise you by how engaged he will become to the game.
He ha been taking music lessons and has also been migrated to the Suzuki music lessons which he is thriving at. Daniel enjoys pilau and chicken too is a favorite of his. He also enjoys fruits in season.
Daniel does not like medicine but will not complain too much when it is time to medicate. When his father get’s home, Daniel reaches for his bag as he gives him the slippers to wear inside the home and the remote control, then sits with him to watch tv. We love us some Daniel!
